A: For a truly unique finish and one of a kind look, decorative finishes range from simple faux finishes to detailed venetian plaster finishes. These finishes add beauty to any space and will enhance everything around them. Once you see these finishes, especially in your home, you will become addicted. Many clients comment on how durable and washable the surfaces are; they can also hide many flaws in the room. Q: Where do I start? A: First we will need some basic information including your location, design and project goals, which rooms you want done, and a potential timeline. We can then set up an appointment to meet with you at the location where the work will take place. At our consultation, we will go over the types of finishes and colors you want for your project. Cindi will provide samples for you as well as photographs from her portfolio. The area to be transformed will be measured so that an accurate quote can be given. She will then create a sample that was made just for you. Each project is given a great deal of consideration and effort to achieve a very specific look. There is no consultation fee for local calls, although a small charge may be incurred for longer distances. Cindi Rowley Designs is licensed through the State of California. We are bonded and insured. Q: How much does each finish cost? A: Costs vary a great deal depending on the type of finish. We are very competitive with professional decorative and faux finishing. Glazed finishes are typically the least expensive depending on the number of layers in the finish. Textured and venetian finishes are priced in the midrange category and higher. Time involvement, the complexity of the finish, and cost of materials all factor into the final price.
A: Furniture will need to be placed away from the work areas, sometimes just moved into the middle of the room. Breakable objects, paintings, or anything against the wall will need to be removed, so there is a clean, clear space for the project. If any base coating is needed, Cindi will guide you through the process and let you know beforehand. Q: Is the room accessible during the process? A: As we will clean up at the end of each day, the space will be useable, leaving little disturbance. Q: In general, how long does a project take? A: Each project will be different. The room size, types of finishes applied, and drying time will all play into the estimated project time; however, Cindi will be able to give you an approximate date of completion.
A: Keep in mind that the sample board is small and you should expect some variations within the walls. Each project is unique in its own right. Cindi will strive to get the finished look to your expectations and will keep as close to the sample board as possible. Q: When is payment due? A: An initial fee is charged to hold the date--either 10 percent of the contracted price or $1000.00, whichever is the lesser amount. Q: What questions should I ask when meeting with or when hiring a decorative artist? A: Questions concerning the proper credentials and history of past projects should be asked of any person who you are considering to hire for a decorative project. Keep in mind that the cheapest is not always the best. Good decorative artists may cost a little more, but they provide excellent materials and finishes. A decorative artist usually invests a great deal of time and money in their education, continually researching for and training with new products. We take great pride in our attention to detail…after all, we are artists!
